Si, gr&acirc;ce &agrave; leur <em>Directions to See a Ghost<\/em> sorti en avril,  les Texans d&rsquo;Austin ont remis au go&ucirc;t du jour un rock spleenien laconique et bien gras tremp&eacute; dans le Velvet comme les Warlocks n&rsquo;ont plus su en faire depuis leur <em>Surgery<\/em> de 2005, sur sc&egrave;ne ils p&ecirc;chent par l&rsquo;abus d&rsquo;une formule qui, quoique captivante, revient vite se mordre la queue. Durant une grosse heure et demie, l&rsquo;&Eacute;lys&eacute;e oscille entre riffs lourds, d&eacute;prim&eacute;s et lancinants et accords pesants, tortur&eacute;s et rampants. En gros, on repasse toujours par le m&ecirc;me point qui, s&rsquo;il pla&icirc;t les deux ou trois premi&egrave;res fois, finit invariablement par lasser. Alex Maas &#8213;&nbsp;croisement de Jim Morrison pour la voix et le phras&eacute;, Fidel Castro pour le style et la barbouze et Robert Smith pour la posture et les pas de chat timide&nbsp;&#8213; envoie du bois sur des versions de <em>Science Killer<\/em> et <em>Young Men Dead<\/em> vraiment m&eacute;chantes, la batteuse Stephanie Bailey est impressionnante dans son style mais, malgr&eacute; tout, quand vient le rappel, on se surprend &agrave; regarder sa montre un peu trop souvent et regretter que le fumage de drogue soit dor&eacute;navant interdit dans les salles de rock et roll, car &ccedil;a nous aurait pas mal aid&eacute; &agrave; triper comme il s&rsquo;eut d&ucirc; toute une soir&eacute;e. &Agrave; la sortie, tous les avis que j&rsquo;entends rejoignent le mien&nbsp;: excellent mais trop r&eacute;p&eacute;titif, avec la voix de Maas g&acirc;ch&eacute;e  par un abus de r&eacute;verb&rsquo; sur le son. La formule est payante, c&rsquo;est certain, les Black Angels ont seulement besoin de travailler leur fond pour se hisser &agrave; la hauteur des Warlocks ou de Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
