Efficace et direct, <em>Days Are Gone<\/em> s&rsquo;adopte d&egrave;s la premi&egrave;re &eacute;coute. C&rsquo;est comme si le printemps n&rsquo;avait plus de fin. Chvrches [personnellement, je prononce &laquo; Ch&rsquo;verche&nbsp;&raquo;] pond un premier album sans temps mort blind&eacute; de morceaux qui marchent tout de suite (<em>Lies<\/em>) ou &agrave; peine plus tard (<em>We Sink<\/em>). Joli premier essai. Je suis curieux de voir la suite. Le groupe a grandi, perdu de son imp&eacute;tuosit&eacute;, s&rsquo;est fait plein de grands topains roux chez qui enregistrer ses disques et, sur ce coup-l&agrave;, m&ecirc;me si je regrette la disparition de la d&eacute;sinvolture des d&eacute;buts, le r&eacute;sultat est s&eacute;duisant. <em>AM <\/em>est &agrave; l&rsquo;image de ce qu&rsquo;Arctic Monkeys est devenu&nbsp;: poli, bien coiff&eacute;, gomin&eacute; comme il faut et tr&egrave;s classe dans son costard noir, il a tout pour plaire. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/tag\/am\/\">En photos &rarr;<\/a>]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"disque\">\n<h2>6 | <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/photo\/2013\/12\/albums\/franz_ferdinand-right_thoughts_right_words_right_action.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/>Franz Ferdinand &mdash; <em>Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action<\/em><br \/>\n    <span class=\"petit\">Domino &mdash; 26 ao&ucirc;t<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Franz Ferdinand en 2013, c&rsquo;est un peu comme <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/2011\/12\/29\/2011-en-4\/#6\">les Kills en 2011<\/a>&nbsp;: Franz Ferdinand fait un album de Franz Ferdinand, et personne n&rsquo;est content. L&rsquo;album est mortel, on se surprend &agrave; fredonner le refrain de <em>Right Action<\/em> comme &agrave; l&rsquo;accoutum&eacute;e, on ne peut s&#8217;emp&ecirc;cher de tortiller des fesses devant leur show de Rock en Seine, comme &agrave; l&rsquo;accoutum&eacute;e, mais comme Franz Ferdinand qui fait un album de Franz Ferdinand, &ccedil;a n&rsquo;a rien d&rsquo;&eacute;tonnant, personne n&rsquo;est content. C&rsquo;est fort dommage, car Franz Ferdinand en est aujourd&rsquo;hui &agrave; 4 albums r&eacute;ussis sans  une seule faute de parcours. Et &ccedil;a, peu de monde peut s&rsquo;en vanter.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"disque\">\n<h2>5 | <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/photo\/2013\/12\/albums\/cold_war_kids-dear_miss_lonelyhearts.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/>Cold War Kids &mdash;<em> Dear Miss Lonelyhearts<\/em><br \/>\n    <span class=\"petit\">Downtown &mdash; 2 avril<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Je ne m&rsquo;&eacute;tais jamais vraiment souci&eacute; de Cold War Kids jusqu&rsquo;alors. Le premier album &eacute;tait trop brouillon &agrave; mon go&ucirc;t. Pour moi, Cold War Kids &eacute;tait un groupe &agrave; petites chansons marrantes &agrave; chanter en fran&ccedil;ais quand il fait froid sur les remont&eacute;es m&eacute;caniques, point. Le deuxi&egrave;me disque me donna raison, puis vint un EP honn&ecirc;te, sans plus. Jusqu&rsquo;au soir du 1<sup>er<\/sup> avril o&ugrave;, en rentrant de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/2013\/04\/05\/black-rebel-motorcycle-club-lancienne-belgique-bruxelles-1er-avril\/\">BRMC<\/a>, je d&eacute;couvre <em>Miracle Mile<\/em> sur Pure FM, puis l&rsquo;album quelques jours plus tard. Bon d&rsquo;un bout &agrave; l&rsquo;autre. Surtout <em>&agrave;<\/em> un bout <em>et<\/em> &agrave; l&rsquo;autre, d&rsquo;ailleurs, car Cold War Kids ont eu l&rsquo;intelligence de placer les deux meilleurs morceaux de l&rsquo;album, <em>Miracle Mile<\/em> et <em>Bitter Poem<\/em>, &agrave; ses extr&eacute;mit&eacute;s. Il y a du bon au milieu (<em>Jailbirds<\/em> ou <em>Water &amp; Power<\/em>, pour ne citer que &ccedil;a), mais le meilleur est aux bouts. Ils ont tout compris, Cold War Kids. Comme pour une personne, c&rsquo;est la premi&egrave;re impression et le dernier souvenir qui pr&eacute;valent lorsque l&rsquo;on se forge l&rsquo;estime que l&rsquo;on portera un disque. On pense moins au reste ou on le pardonne plus facilement  (d&rsquo;autant plus qu&rsquo;ici, &ccedil;a n&rsquo;est m&ecirc;me pas n&eacute;cessaire). Et je retiens <em>Dear Miss Lonelyhearts<\/em> comme leur meilleur album &agrave; ce jour, rien que &ccedil;a. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/tag\/dear-miss-lonelyhearts\/\">En photos &rarr;<\/a>]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"disque\">\n<h2>4 | <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/photo\/2013\/12\/albums\/arcade_fire-reflektor.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/>Arcade Fire &mdash; <em>Reflektor<\/em><br \/>\n    <span class=\"petit\">Merge &mdash; 28 octobre<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Avec <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/2010\/12\/29\/2010en-4\/#suburbs\">The Suburbs<\/a><\/em>, Arcade Fire  avait fait le coup de l&rsquo;album qu&rsquo;on trouve moyen au premier abord, qu&rsquo;on r&eacute;&eacute;coute parce que deux ou trois morceaux sont franchement s&eacute;duisants et qu&rsquo;on finit par adorer parce qu&rsquo;on a fini par l&rsquo;apprivoiser au bout de quelques &eacute;coutes. Quand j&rsquo;ai trouv&eacute; le premier extrait de <em>Reflektor <\/em>moyen, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/2013\/09\/10\/dome-a-hommes\/\">je me suis m&eacute;fi&eacute;<\/a>&nbsp;; &ccedil;a sentait le coup fourr&eacute;&nbsp;; j&rsquo;ai pens&eacute; que &ccedil;a allait recommencer et que je finirais l&rsquo;ann&eacute;e avec l&rsquo;air d&rsquo;un con en mettant en t&ecirc;te de ce classement un album que j&rsquo;aurais d&eacute;cri&eacute; &agrave; sa sortie. Et finalement&#8230; non. <em>Reflektor<\/em> est d&eacute;sesp&eacute;r&eacute;ment moyen. La faute &agrave; un manque d&rsquo;hymnes &eacute;vidents (gardons <em>Afterlife<\/em> et, en grattant un peu, <em>Awful Sound (Oh Eurydice)<\/em>, mais c&rsquo;est &agrave; peu pr&egrave;s tout) et &agrave; des longueurs infinies qui laissent un d&eacute;sagr&eacute;able arri&egrave;re-go&ucirc;t de laisser-aller cr&eacute;atif. <em>Reflektor<\/em> rec&egrave;le de bons moments (pendant <em>Normal Person<\/em> ou <em>Joan of Arc<\/em>, par exemple), mais les d&eacute;laye tellement que sa sauce en devient insipide. On finit bien s&ucirc;r par l&rsquo;appr&eacute;cier au bout d&rsquo;une quinzaine d&rsquo;&eacute;coutes mais, venant d&rsquo;un groupe qui aspire au titre de meilleur du monde, c&rsquo;est insuffisant. D&rsquo;o&ugrave; une quatri&egrave;me position. Vient un moment o&ugrave; il faut assumer. Le quatri&egrave;me Editors n&rsquo;est pas leur meilleur &mdash;&nbsp;qui, pour rappel, est <em>An End Has a Start<\/em>&nbsp;&mdash;, mais montre malgr&eacute; tout que le groupe se remet du d&eacute;part d&rsquo;Urbanowicz, regrett&eacute; guitariste. M&ecirc;lant les grandes envol&eacute;es d&rsquo;<em>A Ton of Love<\/em> avec la lourdeur d&rsquo;un <em>Sugar<\/em> ou la solennit&eacute; d&rsquo;un <em>Bird of Prey<\/em> et la l&eacute;g&egrave;ret&eacute; d&rsquo;un <em>Nothing<\/em> (je passe sciemment sous silence la mi&egrave;vrerie de <em>What Is This Thing Called Love?<\/em>), <em>The Weight of Your Love<\/em> est le retour &agrave; ce qui avait rendu Editors si s&eacute;duisants en 2007 apr&egrave;s un troisi&egrave;me album difficile &agrave; aborder (mais finalement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/2013\/10\/23\/editors-le-trianon-paris-21-octobre\/\">pas si mal<\/a>). Une reprise de confiance. Une convalescence. Avant la suite&nbsp;? [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/tag\/the-weight-of-your-love\/\">En photos &rarr;<\/a>]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"disque\">\n<h2>2 | <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/photo\/2013\/12\/albums\/junip-junip.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/>Junip &mdash; <em>Junip<\/em><br \/>\n    <span class=\"petit\">City Slang &mdash; 23 avril<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><em>Fields<\/em> promettait, <em>Junip<\/em> confirme. Ce deuxi&egrave;me album sent son trio bien en place, carr&eacute;, tout dans la justesse. L&eacute;ger, cotonneux, doux comme un bonbon, il passe partout, sait se faire discret en soir&eacute;e mais prend toute la place d&egrave;s qu&rsquo;on lui en laisse l&rsquo;occasion. En 2010, Junip semblait une escapade dans l&rsquo;aventure solitaire de Jos&eacute; Gonz&aacute;lez. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, c&rsquo;est plut&ocirc;t le contraire, l&rsquo;ensemble habille l&rsquo;homme et je ne vois pas comment on pourrait s&rsquo;en plaindre. [<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/tag\/junip-album\/\">En photos &rarr;<\/a>]<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"disque\">\n<h2>1 | <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/photo\/2013\/12\/albums\/black_rebel_motorcycle_club-specter_at_the_feast.jpg\" align=\"left\" \/>Black Rebel Motorcycle Club &mdash; <em>Specter at the Feast<\/em><br \/>\n  <span class=\"petit\">Abstract Dragon, 18 mars<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Quand on appr&eacute;cie un album, on ne peut pas consid&eacute;rer que l&rsquo;album. Il faut aussi inclure la tourn&eacute;e qui va avec l&rsquo;album, quelque fois les pr&eacute;mices de l&rsquo;album et les &agrave;-c&ocirc;t&eacute;s de l&rsquo;album. Si je consid&egrave;re <em>Specter at the Feast<\/em> sans ces aspects, il reste un disque dans la &#8213;&nbsp;bonne&nbsp;&#8213; lign&eacute;e de <em>Beat the Devil&rsquo;s Tattoo<\/em> il y a 3 ans, mais dont il rel&egrave;ve le niveau. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club reprend pied apr&egrave;s la perte de Michael Been, p&egrave;re (naturel d&rsquo;un tiers et spirituel de 100%) du groupe, disparu en 2010. On sent bien aux carences en titres hargneux (il n&rsquo;y a que <em>Teenage Disease<\/em>, au final) que l&rsquo;ambiance n&rsquo;est &eacute;videmment pas &agrave; la f&ecirc;te, mais que ce soit en l&rsquo;air (<em>Let the Day Begin<\/em>, <em>Lullaby, Returning<\/em>) ou en bas (<em>Lose Yourself<\/em>, <em>Fire Walker<\/em>), <em>Specter at the Feast<\/em> regarde toujours droit.<\/p>\n<p>Reste &agrave; inclure les &agrave;-c&ocirc;t&eacute;s&nbsp;: cette ann&eacute;e, je les ai chout&eacute;s 6 fois, dont 5 en concert et <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/2013\/02\/14\/shooting-people-100\/\">une &agrave; l&rsquo;h&ocirc;tel<\/a>. Cette ann&eacute;e, il y a eu <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wallendorff.com\/belogue\/2013\/03\/18\/the-aftermath\/\">l&rsquo;expo avec Paula<\/a>. &Agrave; chaque fois, <em>Specter at the Feast<\/em> tr&ocirc;nait en bande-son. C&rsquo;est l&rsquo;album que j&rsquo;ai le plus &eacute;cout&eacute; cette ann&eacute;e, celui dont j&rsquo;ai le plus parl&eacute;, celui dont j&rsquo;ai le plus suivi la tourn&eacute;e. Au final, c&rsquo;est &ccedil;a qui compte&nbsp;; l&rsquo;album est une chose, mais la masse de souvenirs que ram&egrave;neront ses futures &eacute;coutes p&egrave;se bien plus lourd dans la balance.
